The family probably comes from the parish Tjällmo in Östergötland, Sweden. In the end of the 17'Th century we can find a number of people named Kiellman even if it's not possible to say if they were related to each other. One of the oldest known Kiellmans is Anders (Andreas) Kiellman, born 1696. He married a noble wife, and that makes it possible to track that family line back to the 13'th century. This is the largest Kjellman family I know of (probably because it is my own). The family appears in Motala, Västra Ny, Vadstena, Undenäs och Ukna.

This family is documented in the book "Slägterna Kjellman och von Löwenadler samt deras afkomlingar" ("The families Kjellman and von Löwenadler and their descendants") from 1912. The family appears in and around Växjö.
